On Saturday, January 29th 2011, Tau Bates volunteered at the First Lego League Competition for elementary & middle school students held at the Student Center. The theme of the competition this year was "Body Forward" with an emphasis on biomedical engineering and its applications. The students program a robot to run several missions and accomplish tasks, and their robot is judged on how many tasks and how well they are completed. The students are also required to do a research project in which they identify a problem in the field of biomedical engineering and propose a solution.
